Das Wort des Tages ist “Eltern“

Meine Eltern konnten leider niemals zu Besuch nach Amerika kommen.

Beide waren sehr krank vor ihrem Tode und konnten nicht mehr reisen.

Meine Schwester kam 1982 einmal und eine meiner Nichten kam zweimal zu Besuch.

Mein Bruder kam noch nie.

Gerade sprach ich mit einem Arbeitskollegen. Er konnte letzte Woche das für Ihn gebuchte Hotel nicht gleich finden.

Natürlich – er ist ein Mann – Männer fragen nicht nach dem Weg, hihi

I just spoke with a colleague. Last week, he could not find the hotel right away that was booked for him.

Ich spreche oft mehrmals pro Woche mit meinen Freundinnen.

Für mich ist das wie ein Besuch bei einer Therapeutin – man kann über Probleme oder über Ereignisse sprechen und bekommt die Ansicht einer anderen Person.

I often speak several times a week with my girlfriends.

Das Wochenende ist nahe. Ich werde eventuell am Samstag zu einem Gartengeschäft in der Nähe des Strandes fahren um mir deren Angebote von Pflanzen und Blumen anzuschauen.

In einem solchen Geschäft muss ich mein Portemonnaie  festhalten, sonst kaufe ich den ganzen Laden aus.

The weekend is near. This Saturday, I will possibly drive to a garden shop near the beach to look at the offerings of plants and flowers.

In such a store I must hold on to my wallet, otherwise I’ll buy out the store.

Jetzt im Frühling blühen  hier um Umkreis alle möglichen Blumen.

Vor einigen Tagen sind daher auch die Kolibris von ihrem Winterflug zurückgekehrt und

wir können uns an den verschiedenen Farben der Blumen sowie der Vögel erfreuen.

An manchen Tagen im Frühjahr wäre es schön wenn mein Schreibtisch nicht im Büro sondern im Garten stehen würde.

Natürlich nur wenn der Wetterbericht keinen Regen voraussagt.

Als ich zum ersten Mal in Amerika ankam habe ich mit Erstaunen festgestellt, dass in vielen Gegenden die Ampeln über den Strassen hin und her baumelten. Wenn der Wind blies habe ich immer erwartet dass diese Ampeln herunterfielen.

In Deutschland stehen die Ampeln an der Straßenseite.

When I came to America the first time, I noticed with surprise that in many areas the traffic lights were dangling back and forth above the streets. When the wind blew I always expected that the traffic lights would fall down.

In Germany, the traffic lights are standing on the side of the street.

Meine Mutter wusste immer wenn meine Geschwister und ich (ich hatte eine Schwester und einen Bruder) lügten.

Der hölzerne Kochlöffel landete ganz schnell auf unserem Hintern.

In Deutschland wurde mir ein Spruch beigebracht der mich immer zum Lachen brachte.

Diesen Spruch können Sie gut benutzen wenn Sie mit langsamen Leuten zu tun haben.

„Ich bin noch jung – ich habe noch Zeit“, haha.

In Germany I was taught a saying that always made me laugh.

This saying you can use well when you are dealing with slow people.

“I am still young – I still have time”, haha.
